Savannah Port Logistics Center construction begins

Capital Development Partners has begun construction on a $125 million logistics campus near the Port of Savannah for import, export and e-commerce customers.
The developer said the Savannah Port Logistics Center will have two buildings with more than 2.3 million square feet of space on a 192-acre site less than 10 miles from the port.
The complex will have multiple routes to the port and access to major Interstates (I-16 to Atlanta and the Midwest and I-95 up the Eastern Seaboard). The campus will offer dual rail service, transload capability and more than 2,000 container storage positions. The dual rail capability will allow customers to ship via the Norfolk Southern and CSX railroads.
The first building at the campus will be ready for occupancy in April 2019. It will have 1,075,000 square feet of space and 40-foot ceilings. Construction on a second, 1,310,400-square-foot building is expected to begin later this year.
The project is a joint venture between Capital and Greenfield Partners, a private equity real estate firm headquartered in Westport, Conn.
