Eight containers fell off the APL Antwerp into the Elizabeth River during off-load operations at the Port of Virginia’s Norfolk International Terminals (NIT) at about 4 p.m. Eastern time Sunday.
All of the containers have been located and have been moved onto the pier at NIT, the port said in a press release Tuesday. Virginia Port Authority CEO and Executive Director John Reinhart confirmed no one was hurt during the incident.
No hazmat materials were in the boxes, a Port of Virginia spokesperson confirmed with American Shipper.
The port added that cargo operations at the Port of Virginia are proceeding according to schedule.
