Florida business owner accused of misbranding hazmat

A Florida business owner has been charged with illegally introducing a misbranded hazardous material into interstate commerce.
Jianguo Zhong, owner of Zhong Supply LLC, was charged in U.S. District Court in Orlando on Aug. 15.
According to the U.S. Department of Transportation Office of Inspector General (DOT-OIG), on April 3, 2017, Zhong offered 5,983 bottles of Coppertone aerosol spray, a hazardous material, to a third-party freight forwarder for shipment to China. Zhong violated shipping regulations by repackaging the material in unmarked containers, relabeling the shipment as lotion and lip balm, and rewrapping the containers with black shrink-wrap to disguise the actual contents, investigators said.
DOT-OIG said it conducted the investigation with assistance from Homeland Security Investigations and the Federal Aviation Administration.
