BIS denies export privileges for convicted man

The Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) is denying export privileges for Fuyi Sun until Aug. 31, 2027, because Sun “knowingly and willfully attempted to export and cause to be exported” from the U.S. to China Toray type M60JB-3000-50B carbon fiber without required Commerce Department licenses, BIS said.
On Aug. 31, 2017, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York convicted Sun of violating the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) in connection with those actions.
Sun was sentenced to 36 months in jail, with credit for time served and a $100 assessment, BIS said.
