FMCSA welcomes input on hours of service changes

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration will conduct a public listening session on potential changes to its hours of service rules for truck drivers from 1 to 3 p.m. EDT, Sept. 14 in Washington, D.C.
The FMCSA is seeking public input on four specific aspects of the HOS rules: the short-haul limit; the exception for adverse driving conditions; the 30-minute rest break provision; and a split-sleeper berth provision.
The agency also requested public comment on petitions for rulemaking from the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association and TruckerNation.org.
Those unable to attend the listening session in person at the U.S. Department of Transportation, 1200 New Jersey Ave. SE, Washington, D.C., may participate online here
The listening session will allow participants to present comments, views and relevant research on the four topics. All comments will be transcribed and placed in the rulemaking docket for the FMCSA’s consideration. Questions may be submitted during the live stream to ListeningSession@dot.gov.
