Executive Moves: Merchant Marine Academy, inconso

   The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point on Wednesday announced that John R. Ballard has been named academic dean and provost.
   Ballard will serve as the chief academic officer and principal adviser to the superintendent in all matters relating to the academic program and faculty. He also will co-chair the educational priority working group for the recently released academy strategic plan.
   He most recently served as the vice president of veterans and military partnerships at the American Association of State Colleges and Universities. His academic experience also includes stints at the Joint Forces Staff College, New Zealand’s Massey University and the Naval War College. Ballard was the dean of faculty and academic programs at the National War College and the founding dean of the National Defense College in the United Arab Emirates.
   Ballard is a U.S. Naval Academy alumnus and a Marine veteran of the Iraq War.

   Hans-Georg Reichl, a finance and risk management specialist, has been appointed to the board of directors of inconso AG, headquartered in Bad Nauheim, Germany.
   He also has been named chief financial officer for Körber Logistics Systems, which consists of software companies inconso, Aberle Software, Cirrus Logistics, DMLogic, HighJump and Voiteq.
   Reichl has held CFO and management positions at IBM, Software AG and Atos Group.
