The County Legislature of Rockland County, NY passed Local Law 3, also known as the Toxic Free Toys Act, on July 2. FASA opposed this law, expressing that duplication of existing regulations will produce an unnecessary burden on manufacturers and retailers while lacking a measurable increase in safety. The law is substantially similar to legislation adopted by other New York Counties such as Albany and Westchester. The law ban the use of certain chemicals in all children’s products sold in Rockland County, NY, including children’s fashion accessories. The law will take effect October 14, 2015.
