2M Alliance revising transatlantic network

   The 2M Alliance of Maersk Line and Mediterranean Shipping Co. (MSC) will revise its North Europe-U.S. network from week 35 to improve transit times and offer better port pair coverage, MSC said.
   Although the alliance will be increasing its loops on the North Europe-U.S. trade from three to four, it plans to adjust the existing three loops so net capacity across the network will remain similar to today’s levels, according to MSC.
   The new loop, dubbed TA4 by Maersk Line and NEUATL4 by MSC, will call Antwerp, Rotterdam, Bremerhaven, Felixstowe, Newark, Savannah, Port Everglades and Charleston.
   In regard to the existing three loops:
     • The TA1/NEUATL1 will call Antwerp, Rotterdam, Bremerhaven, Norfolk, Charleston, Houston and Norfolk;
     • The TA2/NEUATL2 will call Bremerhaven, Felixstowe, Antwerp, Le Havre, Newark, Baltimore, Norfolk, Savannah and Norfolk;
     • And the TA3/NEUATL3 will call Le Havre, Antwerp, Rotterdam, Bremerhaven, Charleston, Veracruz, Altamira, New Orleans, Mobile and Freeport.
   The 2M Alliance’s existing three loops on the trade collectively deploy 17 vessels with a total combined capacity of 109,751 TEUs, according to BlueWater Reporting’s Capacity Report.
