Ship tracking and intelligence company MarineTraffic, headquartered in Athens, Greece, has appointed Nikos Psaltopoulos as its first-ever chief operating officer to bolster its 2020 vision.
Psaltopoulos’ background spans three continents and includes 15 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry as well as roles advising tech startups. He is a founder of 1derground, an Australian website focused on entrepreneurs and technology.
Since its founding in 2007, MarineTraffic has grown its headcount to nearly 100 and opened offices in the U.K. and Singapore.
“We always need to think like a startup and ensure that there is a culture of constant innovation at MarineTraffic,” Psaltopoulos said.
Ceres Terminals Inc., one of the largest stevedores and marine terminal operators in North America, has promoted Chris Choi to director of business development for the West Coast.
Choi, who is based in Ceres’ Southern California office, joined the company in 2017. He brought 16 years of international maritime experience, including positions with Hanjin Shipping and Terminals and Total Terminals International.
