Qatar Airways finalized a $1.7 billion order for five new Boeing 777 freighters at the 2018 Farnborough International Airshow on Monday.
The airline operates a fleet of 13 777 and two 747-8 freighters. With this latest order, Qatar Airways is set to grow its Boeing freighter fleet to 20 jets.
“In the past 15 years, Qatar Airways Cargo has grown steadily and globally, becoming the third largest in the world. We could not have achieved this success without our resilient relationship with Boeing,” Akbar Al Baker, the airline’s chief executive, said in a statement.
The 777 freighter has a flying range of 4,900 nautical miles with a payload of 112 tons.
